Horizon is woven from a blend of recycled sheep's wool and alpaca wool. This particular fibre combination makes it lightweight, durable and soft. The recycled wool is processed by our local supplier in Peru, using wool from other production runs that would otherwise be considered waste. Pulling the wool apart reveals the original fibres, which can be spun into new yarn and woven into new textiles. In this way, Elvang makes use of existing resources, giving them new life instead of discarding them.
Elvang is also fair-trade certified at the highest level by the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO), meaning all our products are made under proper conditions for the environment, people and animals.
Wool generally does not need washing or dry-cleaning, as it has self-cleaning properties and a unique fibre structure that repels odours and dirt. Its natural grease further protects the material by forming a barrier against, for example, bacteria, making frequent washing or cleaning unnecessary. If your throw does need cleaning, we recommend dry-cleaning to preserve its beautiful surface for as long as possible.
